Vintage Safari Hats

A vintage French colonial hat dating to the 1940s-50s with a cork lining. Also known as the pith helmet, safari helmet, sun helmet, topee, sola topee or topi, this is a classic lightweight helmet covered with a smooth white 'Skai' faux leather. There is a pleated band around the crown. The underside of the brim is covered in green fabric, whilst the interior is bare cork with a leather band at the base of the crown. Width of crown: 18.5cm (7 ¼). Crown, rear to front: 19cm (7 ½).
